Ghost venture further into darkness with new beer. Following the success of Grale, Ghost return with Lincopia; an IPA brewed at Nils Oscar Brewery in Sweden.
When Ghost released their first beer; Grale, a scotch ale from Nils Oscar Brewery, it became an instant success. Receiving massive accolades on various social media; fans, music critics and beer writers were unanimous: Ghost Grale was a brilliant beer. The strictly limited edition of 10.000 bottles sold out within a few days. With a whet appetite for beer production, a second collaboration with Nils Oscar Brewery was initiated. The result this time round is a light IPA produced for the summer. Based on malted barley and wheat for a solid base, it gets it’s well-hopped and – in traditional Nils Oscar style – superbly balanced character from El Dorado, Waimea, Citra, Galaxy and Simcoe hops.
The name Lincopia refers to Ostrogothia, a controversial and heavily disputed tenth level of the Inferno, as described by Dante Alighieri. Considered at the time to portray hell in a positive light, as it welcomed both saints and sinners, it was deemed blasphemous and thus deleted from the original manuscript, leaving Inferno with the now legendary nine levels. A subject that fit Ghost and its spiritual leader
Papa Emeritus III as the proverbial papal glove: “– They speak of heaven round the corner, says Papa Emeritus III. I’d rather speak of hell on earth. In Ostrogothia they both meet, and Lincopia represents both light and darkness for mankind. This beer summarizes it all in a 33 cl bottle.”
Patrick Holmqvist, master brewer at Nils Oscar Brewery says: “– With Ghost Grale we took a scotch ale to the limit. Lincopia is a light IPA with no holds barred, that doesn’t sway for either light or dark. I consider this one of the summers best beers!”
Sari H. Wilholm at Brands for Fans says: “– We knew that Grale would be well received, but had no idea that it would sell out so quickly. The phones have been ringing constantly and the email has literally crashed from people wanting to know when they can buy it again. It feels great to be able to offer the fans another beer from Ghost; one of the coolest metal bands on earth if you ask me!”
